Papua New Guinea
In the wake of the BBC’s ‘Out of the Wild’ series we have received a surge of interest from clients wishing to visit Papua New Guinea.
With its superlative mix of tribal diversity (remarkably over 800 different languages are spoken here), mountainous rainforest scenery, and exceptional wildlife-viewing opportunities, Papua New Guinea is another world in its own right.
We can arrange all manner of possible trips from tailor-made private journeys through rural villages coinciding with some of the colourful festivals (e.g. the Canoe Festival in Alotau, the Yam Festival in the Trobriand Islands or the week-long Malagan Festival in Kavieng) to small group escorted tours offering the main highlights within a 2 week visit. If you have a particular specialist interest (e.g. diving, bird-watching, or surfing) then just get in touch and we can provide a sample itinerary.
For trekkers wishing to penetrate the heart of the island, we recommend the Kokoda Track which follows trails from the tropical rainforests up into the more rarefied climes of the main mountain ranges. Staying at night in secluded jungle camps and visiting remote traditional villages en route, this 96km 10-day trail gives an outstanding insight into the rural way of life of PNG.

More leisurely, there is also the chance to enjoy the wonderful palm-fringed coastal scenery of the many islands of PNG by cruising in a small expedition ship. Explore hidden bays, snorkel amidst the striking coral reefs and witness traditional waterside villages where the lifestyle has changed little in centuries.
