Flights
Our up-to-the-minute travel technology provides information on flight fares
and seat availability to just about any destination with any airline. Through
our extensive network of flight 'consolidators' - operators who hold exclusive
allocations of seats with particular airlines - we can offer discounted
long-haul airfares at exceptionally competitive prices.
First Class, Business Class and Round the World Holidays
We have excellent rates on business class and first class fares for most
worldwide destinations, and also offer an excellent business class and first
class Round-the-World service. We can arrange straightforward return flights,
'open-jaw' tickets (where flights arrive and depart from different ports
of call with a surface route between) or complex multi-stop combinations.
In conjunction with our tailor-made service, we are able to offer around the world holidays tailored to your specific needs - enabling us to seemlessly combine flights, transfers, accommodation and any tours that may be required, right across the globe.
'It's great to deal with people who have travelled extensively and can talk knowledgeably about so many destinations - the service from Nomadic Travel was first class and greatly appreciated'
Mr W - Cambodia
Round the World Flights
Round-the-World flights are the most versatile tickets you can obtain in
the realm of air travel! They allow you to fly to more countries and offer
greater flexibility than any other air ticket. They offer you the chance
to personalise your own itinerary - choose which countries and cities you
want to visit and then decide how long you want to stay in each! Access
400 destinations worldwide - more than 90 countries on 6 continents! Stay
away for any period between 10 days and a whole year. You can change the
dates of your flights free of charge, and can also change your destinations
for a small fee - even after you have commenced your journey.
A Round the World ticket will give you a certain number of stops and a mileage limit that you have to keep within. It is useful to know that if you fly into one destination (e.g. Bangkok) and out of another (e.g. Singapore), then this only counts as one stop. There are a number of different round the world tickets on the market, each involving different groups of airlines. The routes available to you on a particular ticket depend on which destinations the airlines in that partnership fly to.
Escapade
This is currently the cheapest RTW fare on the market and accesses the flight
networks of Virgin, Singapore Airlines and Air New Zealand. It is good for
Asia and the Pacific Islands, but very limited for travel within Australia,
Africa or the USA. It is not possible to reach South America on this ticket.
BA/Qantas 'World Discovery'
This is one of the most cost effective and flexible RTW tickets. It allows
you up to 7 stops, one of which must be in Australia or New Zealand and
also gives you a choice of 2 other continents - Africa, North and/or South
America or Asia. It is easy to incorporate some great overland journeys
- such as the Trans-Siberian Railway or Cape Town to Nairobi, for example.
The cost of this ticket varies throughout the year, depending on departure
date. May and June are the cheapest months,
with July, August and the Christmas period being the most expensive. This ticket is by far the cheapest way to get to South America
on a RTW, and is the only one to include internal flights within Australia.
It is also the best round the world tickets for African destinations.
Star Alliance
Star Alliance This partnership has 14 airlines including United Airlines,
Singapore Airlines, Air Canada, Air New Zealand and Thai Airways. It's a
great ticket if you want to fly between a number of cities in the Far East,
or within the USA, but not so good if you want to get to South America on
the cheap, or fly internally within Australia. Along with the Escapade,
the Star Alliance is one of the few tickets that enables you to buy extra
miles. The usual limit is 29,000 miles but you can increase
this to 34,000 miles or 39,000 miles. This ticket also has the advantage of allowing up to
15 stopovers. (Please note that we charge a booking fee on this ticket).
All our RTW itineraries are individually designed for every customer. However, to give you an idea of some possible routes, here are a few sample itineraries:

RTWs are not just about the flights - To make the most out of your round-the-world trip, have you thought about planning your itinerary to take in some of the great overland journeys? RTW tickets allow you to fly into one destination and out of another - and it only counts as one stop - making them perfect for those great travel journeys you've always dreamed of makingá The Trans-Mongolian railway from St. Petersburg to Shanghai can easily be incorporated, as can an overland expedition from Nairobi to Cape Town, or a grand tour of South America. Cross Canada by train, or drive a car across America to hook up with your onward flight. Alternatively, think about pre-booking a short tour of the more difficult to reach places, such as "Canyon Country" in the USA, or Hill Tribe trekking in Thailand - it's cheaper than you think, and can greatly enhance the experience and enjoyment of travelling.

Planning your trip
To maximise the value of a RTW ticket and to get the most from your trip,
we advise the following steps:
1 Find out as much as you can about the countries you wish to visit
(be sure to check weather conditions - monsoons and periods of high humidity
should be particularly avoided - get in touch if you would like climate
details on a particular destination).
2 Budget carefully - be aware that certain countries are cheaper
than others and your funds will stretch further if you spend longer in these
countries. Don't forget to allow for travel insurance which can cost upwards
of £250 when travelling for extended periods. We offer an excellent policy
which gives comprehensive cover for adventurous RTW travellers.
3 Extra flights - if the route that you really want to do can't be
done purely on a round the world ticket, don't panic. It is usually possible
to purchase extra "published" fares to link up certain destinations or areas,
from where you can carry on with your RTW itinerary.
4 Once you have decided on your route and your approximate dates,
call us for a quotation and we will help you find the best deal and advise
on possible refinements to your "flight path". RTWs take a fair amount of
tinkering with to get right, but you can be assured that planning now will
make for a much better trip later!
