‘Uzbekistan: Heart of Central Asia’

Many moons ago, caravans laden with silk, tea, perfume and porcelain crossed Asia to the markets of Europe and Africa. Heading in the opposite direction: honey, horses, glassware and gold. Uzbekistan’s central spot on this ancient Silk Road has given it a legacy of awe-inspiring architecture on top of a melting-pot culture. This tour reveals how waves of traders and conquerors shaped Uzbekistan over thousands of years. Admire the towering fortresses of Khiva and Bukhara, the Islamic architecture of Samarkand, and the Soviet landmarks of Tashkent.

‘China Experience’

Enjoy a taste of China on this outstanding tour of the country’s principal sights. In Beijing, explore the Forbidden City, Tiananmen Square and an excursion to the Great Wall. See the famous Terracotta Warriors in Xian and the ancient city of Nanjing. Finish in vibrant Shanghai and witness the huge economic changes taking place in China today.

‘Classic Sicily’

The Mediterranean’s largest island, Sicily, is as culturally rich as it is beautiful. It is home to vibrant Roman floor mosaics, Arab-inspired gardens and probably the finest Greek temples to be found anywhere in the world. Alongside this, the island has some magnificent natural scenery, from volcanic Mount Etna to quiet beaches in the south.

‘Brazil – Amazon Wildlife Cruise’

 In Manaus board the ‘Iracema’ river cruiser and head deep into the Amazon rainforest, visiting two of Brazil’s finest national parks in search of its superb birdlife, including Festive Parrot, Hoatzin and Agami Heron. Then travel onwards to the remote Jaú National Park where an incredible variety of wildlife awaits including 14 species of primate, macaws and Guianan Toucanet. Equipped with camera-traps, spotlights and an onboard drone, wildlife will be encountered throughout the journey.

‘Wild Sweden – Realm of the Wolf’

In the beautiful forests of central Sweden some of Europe’s larger mammal species, long since extinct in the British Isles, still outnumber the human population. On this 5-day break, search for Elk and Beaver, and learn how to track Wolves amidst the scenic lakes and dense forests of Sweden’s Bergslagen region.

‘Kenya’s Maasai Mara Migration’

Every year, the wildebeest and other plains herds follow ‘the rains’ to travel a circular route around the East African savannahs and in August they move northwards into the Maasai Mara. During their journey there are many dangers, including river crossings and predation. Where the herds go, predators tend to follow and this trip will be looking out for those species that rely on the annual influx of the herds, including Lion, Leopard and Cheetah.

‘Iceland’s Laugavegur Trek’

Iceland is now firmly established as being amongst the world’s premier trekking destinations and one of its most popular trails is the Laugavegur Trail.  It commences in the colourful Landmannalaugar mountains before heading to the dramatic Thorsmork region where craters from the 2010 eruption are in evidence. Few trekking routes can match the striking vistas on offer here.

‘Highlights of Mont Blanc’ 

Enjoy a spectacular week of Alpine walking from an attractive chalet hotel in the Chamonix Valley. Making use of the extensive cable car system, strike out on day walks with awe-inspiring views including sections of the famous Tour du Mont Blanc long distance trail. A highlight for many, the hike to Lac Blanc affords panoramic views of the entire Mont Blanc range.

21st August – 28th August

‘Greek Island Wanderer’

Go island hopping in Greece on this two-week tour of the Cyclades. Land in Athens, Greece’s historic and cultural capital, before boarding a ferry to get to grips with island life. From Syros to Paros and Naxos to Santorini, tick off ancient ruins, bustling harbours, and serene beaches on this tour of Greece’s island highlights.

We Nomads have some super trips lined up ourselves in the coming months with Abbie off to Corfu, Fran traveling on an agents trip to Morocco, Rob heading to Flores in eastern Indonesia and Maudie yet to decide but hoping to trek somewhere exotic this autumn.
